Japanese artist printed on a 3D printer a house for crawfish

The Japanese artist Aki Inomata became famous on the Internet thanks to her new art - a project for the manufacture of plastic houses for hermit crabs using a 3D printer.

The form of houses in the form of plastic shells, covered with small mock-ups of buildings, Inomata develops on the computer itself. The size of the shell is chosen in such a way as to fully correspond to the shelters in which hermit crabs usually settle in the wild.

According to the artist, her project is a metaphor for an open world without borders between nationalities. As cancers form their "identity", choosing any of the available shelters - most often shells of dead shellfish, stones or garbage - and people in the modern world have the opportunity to change their national identity.
