Buddhist monks in the east of Canada decided not by word, but by deed to prove their adherence to the ideas of careful attitude and compassion for all living things. They bought eight boxes of lobsters cooked for sale in restaurants, and organized an action to send crustaceans back to the ocean. P>
Before the lobsters were released into the water, a prayer was read over them, in the hope that the animals would find a place to live without the traps of enterprising fishermen. The monks themselves insist that they have chosen crustaceans not because of the desire to annoy restaurateurs or to convince someone to refuse to eat animals for food. The protesters said that "it could not be lobsters, butworms or flies & mdash; any living beings. " p>
